It didn't matter how many times Danny said “Think before you act!” Steve never heard. Danny could yell, demand, swear, beg, it never penetrated. Steve kicked in doors, jumped off shit so high it made Danny dizzy, ran into the line of fire like he was bullet proof, never let anyone else take point if the danger was high.
“ Hang in there Steve” Danny says pressing down to stem the flow “Stay with me!”
“What happened?” Chin yells coming fast “ What hit him?'
Danny shakes his head trying to make it sound less crazy “ Ninjas!”
