Teen Wolf Song Meme

We did a song meme at
beacon_hills where we had to shuffle our music and take the first 10 songs to match with Teen Wolf pairings. The pairings could be canon, non-canon, or crack, as long as we explained why. You could repeat pairings so long as you had different reasoning.
I had a lot of fun doing it and somewhere along the way realized that I had some Jackson/Lydia feels that I hadn't ever noticed before. LOL. Anyway, here's my meme:
1.
Song Title: The Finish Line
Artist: Snow Patrol
Pairing: Jackson/Lydia
Why this song fits: This song has a detached, melancholy quality to it which I think fits both characters’ journeys in season two. The line “I think the finish line's a good place we could start” is where I see the characters and their relationship at the end of 2.12. They made it to the finish line of so much, and now they can start over with each other.
2.
Song Title: Be Mine
Artist: David Gray
Pairing: Scott/Allison
Why this song fits: This song makes me think about how Scott’s entire world became consumed with Allison “the very first moment [he] saw [her].” The section “my eyes are so wide/like you reached right into my head/and turned on the light inside” is Scott’s new wide-eyed wonder at the world now that Allison is in it.
3.
Song Title: Hundred
Artist: The Fray
Pairing: Derek/Stiles
Why this song fits: This song expresses an uncertain relationship. Without communicating how they really feel, Derek and Stiles are “somewhere between unsure and a hundred.” But at least the initial wall is gone and they are closer than they once were.
4.
Song Title: I Want to Know
Artist: The Mavericks
Pairing: Jackson/Scott
Why this song fits: The continuous repetition of “I wanna know” in this song makes me think of Jackson investigating and continually confronting Scott in season one. Jackson always wants to know and Scott is the focus for his curiousity…and maybe more.
5.
Song Title: Mad World
Artist: Gary Jules
Pairing: Peter/Lydia
Why this song fits: Peter quite literally turned Lyida’s world into a “mad world.” The eerie quality to the song fits the creepy relationship that they had in season two. The tone and lyrics fit particularly well with Lydia’s fugue state and her detached existence in season two which was all because of Peter.
6.
Song Title: Over My Head
Artist: Furslide
Pairing: Derek/Erica
Why this song fits: This song fits Erica and her attempt to grow strong and be reborn, but she is “in over [her] head.” She is in over her head with the werewolf thing, but especially with Derek who she doesn’t really understand. She wants him, but can’t read him.
7.
Song Title: Only if for a Night
Artist: Florence & the Machine
Pairing: Jackson/Lydia
Why this song fits: Lydia is literally Jackson’s “only light.” The line “but you came over me like some holy life” makes me think about how she confronted the Kanima in 2.12 and brought Jackson back to himself. He was lost to the world but “[he] heard [her] voice as clear as day.” She is his salvation.
8.
Song Title: The Best Day
Artist: Taylor Swift
Pairing: Stiles/Lydia
Why this song fits: There is a nostalgic quality to this song that brings to mind innocence and childhood. It makes me think of Stiles and his crush on Lydia. He’s loved her for a long time and that crush is a safe place for him.
9.
Song Title: Soldier
Artist: Eminem
Pairing: Chris/Victoria
Why this song fits: Chris and Victoria live their life like soldiers. They carry a great weight, their “[shoulders’] hold up so much,” but “they won't budge” because they carry the weight together. Together “[they] will never stumble.”
10.
Song Title: Devour
Artist: Shinedown
Pairing: Jackson/Lydia
Why this song fits: The line “take it and take it and take it until you take us all” brings to mind Jackson’s accusation that Lydia takes everything from him. Their relationship is not exactly healthy and both of them take so much from each other. They both know what buttons to press and how to hurt each other the most. It’s a relationship that devours them both.
