I just meant it is a bit odd that Emma was there at all considering prior to this event she has been in hiding with Scott and Magneto. Her presence does a lot to sell how strange things have gotten.
Yeah, I try my hardest not to hold anything from the 80s and early 90s against the characters. Things that happened after that are more of a case by case basis for me. In this case I have the added advantage of only reading ABOUT the shit things he did to Bobbi instead of having that be my long standing view of the character.
In this comic it is more the moral center as far as what it means to be a hero even in the face of the impossible. I don't know if he is going to continue to be central to the event or not, but I hope so. Marvel is doing really good things with Hawkeye recently and it's making me enjoy him more than I ever expected to.
I really like Red She-Hulk. I originally just tried it because I liked the strong cover art and I wanted to support titles featuring women. It took me a few issues to get into it, and for them to get into the groove, but now I am very much happy I gave it a try. It was a bit off-putting at first that Machine Man was the primary POV in her book instead of her, but that has balanced out now that the mystery of her character isn't the focus and in retrospect I like the approach where he is investigating and trying to figure her out.
The biggest advantage of the comic is that it is pretty self-contained. There are lots of cameos and appearances by other Marvel U characters but they are all in service of Betty's story. The arc is not crossing over into other books and the other characters aren't bringing their drama in to hers.
Basically, if you try it give it several issue to get it's groove and I hope you like it! :D
