Choosing ten moments was hard. So very hard. I had a very long list that I trimmed down to find ten but on another day I might have created a different list.
Also, be warned that one of the moments is a major spoiler from the finale.
10. On the Bench (1.22)
I love this scene because they could have been down on the beach but instead are sitting together on the bench watching. They are so at ease with each other and the look on Steve's face is pure love. They remind me of an old married couple.
9. A Term of Endearment (1.06)
This scene made me squee when I first saw it because Steve clearly acknowledges an affection for Danny and Danny accepts it.
Steve: You know when I say book ‘em Danno it’s a, it’s a term of endearment.
Danny: Okay, do it everyday. I like it.
8. I Know You (1.08)
This whole episode shows a huge development in the Steve/Danny relationship. First Steve learns how important partnership is and acknowledges that he would always trust Danny:
And then he goes to Meka's funeral to support Danny and tells him "I know you." I just love how much trust and support is evident in this one moment:
7. The Hug (1.23)
How can you not love this moment? The way Steve clings to Danny, cupping his shoulder, and just rocks. The only bad part is that Sang Min interrupted. But even that let us see how very in sync and BAMF they are with the synchronized gun draw.

6. Sexy Eyes (1.11)
This scene is hilarious because of Steve's bad taste in music and the nature of the song BUT what I love most is the discussion that preceded the music argument. The way that they opened up emotionally to each other about the difficulty of death notifications and discussed Steve's mother's death showed an immense amount of trust and emotional support. So of course they had to lighten the mood with the bad music. Because they are too manly for all that angst. :D
5. The Phone Call (1.16)
I loved how much this scene said about Steve and Danny's relationship. Steve stops everything to try to help Danny out, even though he is in camo paint setting Ewok-style traps for deadly assassins. Plus how much do I love that Steve knows Danny's tones the same way Danny knows Steve's faces?
4. Airhearts!! (1.20)
This moment deserves a place on this list just because of the sheer shock and joy I experienced when I first saw it and then it of course completely imploded the fandom. But beyond the actual airhearts the entire hiking trip was wonderful. The way Steve opened up to Danny about his childhood and the way Danny did so much to help Steve. I just love seeing them being so supportive of each other. The airhearts were just the icing on the cake.

3. Steve Takes Care of Grace (1.23)
There were a lot of great moments between Steve and Danny in this episode but I think that the way Steve took care of Grace says the most about their relationship. Steve is going to be there for Danny's daughter if Danny can't. That is a level of trust and love that runs very deep. I mean seriously, Danny was okay with Grace staying over night with Steve.
It was also apparent that Steve had been participating in Danny's Grace weekends by the way Grace greeted him excitedly as "Uncle Steve."
2. Danny Stays (1.24)
A lot of people have a lot of things to say about the finale but the only thing that could have broken me is if Danny had gotten on that plane. The fact that he stayed says so much about his integrity as well as his partnership and friendship with Steve. He can call Rachel later but for now he is needed in Hawaii and he didn't even think about leaving when it was important. He didn't even consider turning around and getting on that plane. Instead he promised Steve that he would get him out. And Steve knows that he can count on Danny.
1. The Punch (1.01)
I firmly believe that Danny punching Steve in the pilot is the only reason that their partnership and relationship works. He proved to Steve that he would be an equal and that he wasn't just a tool to be used. Without the punch there would have been no mutual respect. This is, in my opinion, the cornerstone of their relationship. It is also the moment that I started shipping them.
So there you have it. I'd love to hear how my list compares to yours!
