Can I ask why you decided to make Steve have "No religious preference"?
I gave a lot of thought to everything I put on that tag. AB positive because I'm sure he needs to get a lot of transfusions and the social security number actually has meaning too. So I want to assure you it wasn't lightly done to make him have no religious preference.
If this was a longer, plottier fic where I was incorporating religion in some manner I'm sure I would have given him something, but as it is the show has never once indicated religion with Steve or his family in any way. The only time I recall Steve having ever even maybe reference God was the God and governor line.
Personally, I was raised Christian but never attended any churches or was a part of any organized denomination so I do not tend to assume that other people definitely were. Especially in this case with what we know of his father and the fact that he was shuffled around.
In my upcoming Big Bang I sort of touch on religion very briefly and my vision of Steve there is agnostic but wanting to believe. Hoping there is something more. And I suppose that's really how I see the character in general too.
Danny on the other hand I see as a lapsed Catholic. But that's another story.
Does that sort of maybe answer your question in my long rambling way?
